Студенты должны выполнить один из трех вариантов в соответствии с последними цифрами студенческого шифра: Студенты, шифр которых оканчивается на 1, 2 или 3 выполняют вариант №1; на 4, 5 или 6-№2; на 7, 8, 9 или 0-№3.

Для того, чтобы правильно выполнит контрольную работу №2, необходимо усвоить следующие разделы курса.

1. Имя существительное. Множественное число. Артикли и предлоги как показатели имени существительного. Выражения падежных отношений в английском языке с помощью предлогов и окончания -s. Существительное в функции определения и его перевод на русский язык.

2 .Имя прилагательное. Степени сравнения имен прилагательных. Конструкции типа the more... the less.

3. Числительные.

4. Местоимения: личные, притяжательные, указательные, определенные и отрицательные.

5. Форма настоящего (Present), прошедшего (Past) и будущего (Future) времени группы Indefinite действительного залога изъявительного наклонения. Спряжение глаголов to be, to have в Present, Past и Future Indefinite. Повелительное наклонение и его отрицательная форма.

6. Простое распространенное предложение: прямой порядок слов повествовательного и побудительного предложений в утвердительной и отрицательной формах; обратный порядок слов вопросительного предложения. Оборот there is (are).

Decades ago the label “Made in China” meant cheap products and bad quality. Today more and more Chinese are moving businesses out of their own country and setting them up abroad . Prato is town just north of Florence. With a population of more than 180,000 Prato is the second largest city in Tuscany ,after Florence. Prato has a long history of making clothes and textiles. It even has a textile museum that shows the town’s past. Since the 1980s thousands of Chinese have come to Prato, making it the biggest Chinese community for such a small town. Today, about a fifth of the town’s population is Chinese. There are 5,000 Chinese businesses in Prato, most of them in the textile industry. All of them produce clothes that are Made in Italy . About 1 million pieces of clothes are made every day, worth almost 2 billion Euros a year. The Chinese factories export the clothes to many countries around the world. But more and more Italians are also turning their backs on Armani and Prada and buying Chinese clothes.

Chinese garments are much cheaper than Italian clothes and the quality is good too. Chinese businesspeople have made local Italian company owners very angry. Thousands of Italians have lost their jobs and half of the companies have shut down since 2001. The Chinese import their own textiles at a much lower price and Chinese workers are cheaper too. There is also evidence that there are thousands of illegal Chinese who work in Prato. The police have successfully raided secret apartments and houses that were home to illegal Chinese. The people of Prato say the Chinese have brought along other problems as well. There is more crime, prostitution and drug trade in the town. The new owners are not spending their profits in the local area but sending their earnings back to China. In 2009, Prato elected a new conservative mayor who wants the European Union to do something against Chinese immigration .

More than any other Eastern European country Poland has drawn many advantages from joining the European Union. When Communism collapsed in Eastern Europe 20 years ago Poland was mostly an agricultural country. Since then economic growth has not stopped. Today, Poland is Europe’s sixth largest economy.Poland did not experience the global economic crisis that hit Europe and the rest of the world in 2009. Its economy grew by almost 2 %. Since it joined the European Union in 2004 unemployment has dropped from 20% to 8%. Most of the growth has developed in the big cities. Today, Poles have a higher standard of living than ever before.

Although more and more foreign investors are discovering Poland, it’s the Poles themselves who are creating new jobs. Over the past few years many middle sized companies have emerged. They produce primarily for the Polish market. Only 40% of the Polish economy depends on exports. For many years foreigners have had fixed ideas about Poland. The people were thought to be lazy and the state’s bureaucracy inefficient. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. Poles are very motivated and ambitious. They no longer work for state-run companies and they earn more than they did when capitalism began. They have found out that working hard pays off.

One of the main reasons of Polish success is its currency. The country has not had the difficulties that countries like Ireland and Greece have experienced. Being out of the euro zone has brought advantages. The Polish zloty has fallen in value against the euro and the dollar. Polish products have therefore become cheaper abroad. Many people want the euro to be introduced at some time, but there is no hurry. They want to keep their zloty at least until 2015 The country, however, is not without economic problems. Deficit is still at 7% of the GDP, the EU only allows 3%. The budget is spinning out of control because the country is spending a lot. On the other side the government is not getting enough money from taxes because companies always find ways of not paying them.

Hong Kong is one of the wealthiest places in Asia. The economy of the former British colony is booming , largely because of China’s economic rise . But still, there are over a million who live in poverty in Hong Kong. The gap between rich and poor is becoming bigger. Not only Hong Kong’s poorest are suffering . Middle class citizens are frustrated because, even though they have good jobs, they can barely make ends meet . Housing prices are going through the roof; food is becoming more and more expensive.

Real estate prices in Hong Kong are skyrocketing , rising up to 20% a year. Many rich people from communist China are coming to Hong Kong and buying up property in the former colony. They can even buy themselves a citizenship if they bring at least 10 million Hong Kong dollars into the city. While many upper class citizens live in luxurious apartment buildings there are a hundred thousand people in Hong Kong who don’t have enough space to live. Some of them live in cages or containers only a few feet wide. Despite this, the economy of the new Chinese province could not be better. Unemployment is at a low rate, the stock market is booming and the government has enough money to give $6,000 to every Hong Kong citizen .

This will not help the average middle and lower class resident . Inflation is increasing, due to rising food prices and education costs. At 5% it is at its highest rate since the beginning of the century . The Hong Kong dollar is linked to the US dollar and has lost value over the past years. Hong Kong’s imports have become more expensive, especially oil and food. Criticism of the government is commonplace . Many suggest that instead of giving citizens money it would be better to spend it on creating new homes and houses. Hong Kong will need more room for its population. Thousands of people from mainland China are moving to Hong Kong to reunite with their families, who fled Communism many years ago.
